Yes, and I’m very sorry about that! I still have your email and I still plan to write about Capaz and one other project I’d also promised to write about even earlier. Now that I’m starting to get back involved in Mandingueira I definitely hope to start up the Blue Snake posts again as well (which is where the “Spotlight” posts go). Thanks for checking up on me, and I will be sure to let you know when that post finally goes up. :)

First of all, great site. I am so glad that I found you Mandingueira.
Secondly, I work with the Brazilian Cultural Arts Exchange (BCAE) Capoeira Luanda and Hoggetowne Middle School ( 1st middle school to have a capoeira program in the US and largest capoeira kids’ program in US -I am waiting for someone to dispute that) in Gainesville, FL. We are hosting a Women’s Empowerment event to honor National Women’s History Month. Our event will run March 15 – 24th . . includes workshops for girls, teens and women on politics. social issues and capoeira. I will be giving a presentation on women in dance (I am a choreographer) and tying it into my work with brazilian dance and the local groups i work with. I was doing research for my presentation when I found this site. Keep it up!
