I’m still new enough to be kind of “deer in headlights” in the roda, so I make a point to remember at least one thing I want to do, no matter what–often a sequence I’ve learned in class just before, or a challenging move I’ve seen a more advanced player use (that I think I might be ready to handle).

Nothing finer than the element of surprise, especially when it comes to my instructor and CM. When I get that surprised (and sometimes impressed) “hey, you got me!” look from them, it’s satisfying not ‘cos of any mean reason (ha ha, I got the tough guy) but because I feel like I am getting somewhere on this capoeira journey.

I think it’s good to use well-known examples to compare with. I liked the overview of the Enron scandal, I learned some stuff I didn’t know before.

I especially liked what you said about “digging the hole deeper.” I see this way too often, and I really can’t stand it. It’s one of my capoeira pet peeves. I’m constantly telling people to quit spending the entire game trying to take someone down. Especially out of revenge for being taken down yourself. It just makes the game turn ugly (visually and philosophically).

All in all, good show!
